A preview of things to come ...

OK story lovers, its time to flip open the diaries and pencil in some dates for 2017.

Whether you like to tell stories or prefer to listen, we have two monthly events from February through to November where you will be welcome. We'll also be adding some special events and workshops but these are still to be finalised. If you haven't done it already, subscribe to this blog, and/or follow us on Facebook, and you'll get all the news. Become a member and enjoy a few member perks and support the growth of the organisation. In the meantime here is a preview of things to come...

Fabled Nights in Newport

Fabled Nights in Newport is an open-hearted space for people who want to learn to craft true tales, traditional stories, tall tales and yarns; heart to heart and without notes. We welcome beginners and experienced folks. So come and strut your stuff, share what you know, try out a new story or tell a tale for the first time.
There's room for around 10 storytellers and we ask that stories be no longer than 10 minutes, give or take.


* World Storytelling Day is in March and the theme is 'Transformation' you might like to come along in Feb and practice a story 6 - 8 minutes for our celebration in Geelong at the Dome. (Details below)

WHEN: 3rd Friday of the month (First Fabled Night is February 17)
TIME: 7.30 - 10.00 pm
WHERE: Newport Community HUB 13 Mason street Newport (short walk from Newport Station).
COST: $5.00 or  $3.00 members

Fabled Nights in Newport is a partnership event with Hobsons Bay Libraries and is supported by the Newport Fiddle and Folk Club.

RAW Garden Storytelling (Fabled Afternoons)

RAW Garden Storytelling is a partnership event with Mariam Issa and the RAW Garden. The Garden celebrates the uniqueness and aspirations of multicultural women through gardening, storytelling, crafts and cooking. This year Durgah Devi Palanisamy (Dee) from Storytelling Vic will be hosting. Dee will have a mix of special guests and story games and there is always a space for friends to tell a tale.

WHEN: 1st Sunday of the month (First Fabled Afternoon is February 5)
TIME: 12.00 - 2.00 pm
WHERE: 325 South Road, Brighton East (short walk from Moorabbin Station)
COST: $15.00 or  $10.00 members

World Storytelling Day: theme Transformation

World Storytelling Day is a global celebration of the art of oral storytelling. Its a time when people gather to tell stories and listen to stories in as many languages and in as many places as possible.

Come along and celebrate with us, bring ears to listen or a story to share (8 mins max). There will be stories for all ages.

This event has been organised for us and will be hosted by Storytelling Vic member Susan Hall

WHEN: Sunday 19 March
TIME: 2.00 - 4.00 pm
WHERE: The Dome  (Geelong Library and Heritage Centre)
