An Invitation to
Everyone Who Loves a Good Yarn!
After six years of meeting during the day, the Ballarat
Storytellers (BST) thinks it is mature enough to meet during an evening as
well!
The first ever evening meeting will be held on Tuesday 23rd
October at The Church Retro Cafe in Albert Street, Ballarat Central, opposite
the TAFE buildings, from 7.30pm until 9pm.
Tea, coffee and cake will be available to purchase from
the proprietors, who are opening especially for the event.
The Ballarat Storytellers are hoping to swell their
membership which is currently free. A ‘hat’ is sometimes passed around to
contribute to printing and postage costs, but that is all.
Six years ago a group of like-minded people gathered at a
cafe by Lake Wendouree. The aim was to maintain the ancient art of storytelling
and create an opportunity for people to develop their skills. Over the years
the group has entertained a variety of audiences and had a lot of fun along the
way.
Since its involvement with students from the Australian
Catholic University, the BST wishes to encourage as many people as possible to
enjoy listening to stories being told, not just read from books. There is a
world of difference between the two activities. We would like everyone to enjoy
this ancient art and dive into its refreshing waters, bathed in all the
emotions it arouses and surface to see the world with different eyes.
All five of your senses will be stimulated on Tuesday 23rd
October at The Church Retro Cafe so come along and be entertained or entertain!
Indulge in the delicious food and drink on offer and be blown away by the
decor. The proprietors will show you true Irish hospitality and we hope this
will be the first of many such evenings.
