Folktales and Friends of the Festa
Daylesford based storyteller and past
president of the Swiss & Italian Festa (1995 – 2001), Anne E Stewart, will
wind her way through twenty years of of Swiss & Italian Festa history. From
friends and early committee members you'll hear anecdotes and
conversations as they share their recollections of the beginning of the Festa
and some of its highlights. Anne will tell of her involvement, including a
visit by internationally renowned author / illustrator Tomie DePaola as well as
recount some of Tomie's classic folktales.
Awarding winning Castlemaine based storyteller Oisin McKenna will also feature on the day and will perform Italo Calvino's Marcovaldo tales. The stories take place in a very poor industrial city in northern Italy in the early 1950s, the Italy of neo-realistic movies.
