Many of the locals missed it at Chillout ( busy weekend) but back by popular demand Anne E Stewart will again tell the story 'So who was the first gay in Village.' Words and images combine to tell the history of our gay friendly town.

An afternoon in conversation with the Story Gatherers

Local Daylesford storyteller Anne E Stewart invites three of Victoria's working storytellers to share their knowledge of story and their individual take on the telling . Anne has been working as a writer, broadcaster and oral storyteller for over 30 years. Through her deep connections to the Australian storytelling culture she is able to attract some of the best to Words in Winter.

  • Jan 'Yarn' Wositzky will launch the new edition of his Tommy Woodcock biography
  • Jackie Kerin will have copies of her picture book Phar Lap
  • Matteo the wandering minstrel, will share a few songs and tales.
All of the contributors will share their path to a storytelling career.

Fairy Lou and Matteo

Mary Lou Keaney and Matthew Flemming (Fairy Lou and Matteo) are two of the oldest fairies in the business and met and honed their craft at Wonderwings, Melbourne’s first fairyshop.“Fairy Lou” is always ready with her wand, wishes and stardust and a fabulous and engaging collection of stories for everyone. Matteo immediately engages audiences with his musical skills, use of mime, his voice and humour and has been variously described as a genie, a funky pirate or a gypsy.
